One home to happiness is The Common Room (127–129 Devonshire Street, 0114 280 8221). From Monday to Friday between 5pm and 8pm you can get half price cocktails or two glasses of wine for just £3. How on earth will you decide which to have? The Ha! Ha! Bar (8–12 St Paul's Parade, 0114 276 6710) will have you laughing your socks off with their happy hour from 5pm–7pm giving you any cocktail for £3. At that price you can work your way through the menu, although you probably won't remember it the next day. If cocktails aren't your tipple, however, The Harley (334 Glossop Road, 0114 275 2288) might suit you better. Selected lagers at £2–£2.30, single and a mixer at £1.80 and a glass of wine at £2.60 between 4pm and 7pm daily will get you warmed up nicely.

Pink Russian (Bia Hoi) – A cute, fluffy twist on a classic.
Delboy (Revolution) – Far more exotic than the cockney trader.
A Bloody Strong and Northern Bloody Mary (The Old House) – Pretend you're a local and ask for this Henderson's relish drink.
Coco Cubana (Cubana) – Like a liquid toffee, South American style.
Kitten Cuddler (Champs Sports Bar) – This kitten's got claws. Let it scratch you.

Top five most notable toilets
Champs Sports Bar – Merchandise everywhere. And we mean everywhere.
Bar One – The graffiti debates range from fit bar staff to 'mooncups' (don't ask).
Bia Hoi – A giant Buddha to welcome you in.
Varsity – Very bad. There's always somebody lying on the floor in a pile of his or her own sick.
Takapuna – Never again will you feel this glamorous on the lav.
