Billy Nasty goes Haywire
At this point in his career, Billy Nasty has got the kudos to play any main room that he wants, but he’s still got time to play for old friends who have helped create the electro scene that he’s now a part of.
Haywire have been behind the filthy electronic sound since it’s beginnings in the UK scene, so his upcoming gig as part of the Haywire Sessions should come as no surprise…
‘‘I’m not quite sure what makes Haywire’s parties so special,’ Billy muses, ‘but I guess that over the years people have come to see that that Haywire stands for top notch cutting-edge electronic music, delivered by the leading underground DJs of the world. Although I haven’t played at their smaller nights before - but will soon - so I’m looking forward to sampling the “Haywire experience” myself!’
But Bill, isn’t ‘electro’ just the new black, the genre du jour in a way that progressive used to be back in the murky 90s?
“I don’t know about that… I think that electro is amazing, dirty music when it’s done right, though as a far as the term “electro” itself is concerned, you may have a point.
“We do seem to in a bit of a grey area at the moment,” Billy admits, “because everyone seems to have a different idea of what it is and how it’s supposed to sound. Still, that makes the gigs interesting!”
