Kite Runner film previews
See it ahead of the pack
Pant-wettingly exciting stuff for movie buffs/cinephiles/literati/just plain human beings. Itchy have teamed up with Paramount Pictures UK and Film First to give you the chance to attend exclusive preview screenings of the new movie, The Kite Runner (certificate 12A) long before its nationwide release.
Based on the massively bestselling novel by Khaled Hosseini, this is a prestige picture par excellence, and is all but guaranteed to have Oscars coming out of its, erm, ears come next February. Directed by Marc Forster (of Stranger Than Fiction and Finding Neverland fame, and who’s about to start working on Daniel Craig’s next Bond venture) it’s a deeply moving tale of friendship, family, devastating mistakes and redeeming love. In a divided country on the verge of war, two childhood friends are about to be torn apart forever.
It’s a glorious afternoon in Kabul and the skies are bursting with the exhilarating joy of a kite-fighting tournament. But in the aftermath of the day’s victory, one boy’s fearful act of betrayal will mark their lives forever and set in motion an epic quest for redemption.
The Kite Runner is a thrillingly good movie and just what you need if you lost faith in cinema following the glut of tosh inflicted on us this summer. Added to that, this is the perfect opportunity to feel like you’re streets ahead of all your friends in the film stakes, especially as it’s one of those films that everyone will be talking about once it’s released. Although, of course if you’re too busy going to see Fred Claus or (dare we mention it) Good Luck Chuck then that’s your business and we wish you good day.
Screenings are on Tuesday, 4th December. All you have to do to is go to www.seefilmfirst.com and enter the promotional code 535699. For a full list of participating cinemas, see below.
The Kite Runner is on nationwide UK release as of 26th December.
