Bristol Zoo

Founded in 1835, Bristol Zoo has more than one claim to fame. As well as displaying a photograph of John Cleese with a monkey on his shoulder on its website, it was awarded 'Zoo of the Year 2004' and is also the fifth oldest zoo in the world. Admission prices are a tad steep, but what else would you expect from somewhere at the hub of posh Clifton? It's a listed charity, does masses of work for wildlife conservation, and if you like it as much as Mr Cleese obviously did, then you could even get married there. But leave the monkey business to the monkeys.
