The Grand Cafe
The Grand Café's renowned by the student population of Oxford for the half price cocktails it serves Monday to Saturday 7-11pm. Possibly lesser known, or at least lesser taken advantage of, is its daytime persona as, well, a rather grand café. The décor is definitely a bit posh, but the great thing about the Grand Café is that it completely lacks the stuffy atmosphere and high prices you might expect to come with it. A selection of reasonably priced salads, soups and sandwiches is available for lunch, as well as high tea in the afternoon and a selection of cakes and pastries all day. Service is marvellously friendly and there's a mirror covering the entirety of the back wall; what's not to love?
