You have to remember that before all of those young upstarts started opening trendy bars with wooden boxes for seats, Yates's was getting us pissed on cheap booze and forcing us to get down to a cheese, and no one so much as uttered a word of complaint. Not that such misty–eyed reminiscing lets ignore the garish carpets and slightly sticky tables that seem to come as standard. But, glamorous it may not be, but cheap it certainly is: four shots for five quid almost beat for value and potency those bottles of 20/20 that we all used to drink when we were fourteen.
