Eagle and Child
Tolkein used to come to the Eagle and Child, as every other guide book in the universe will duly inform you. But this isn't the only reason you should come to the Bird and Baby, as its affectionately known. Perfect on a winter Oxford evening, when you can enjoy mulled wine in cosy surroundings, particularly in the little booths that allow for a more private session. That is, unless you get stuck in one with an ageing toothless wonder who claims to have boozed there with Tolkein himself.
