Makan La
Oxford's not usually known for its authentic Asian cuisine, let's be honest, and we certainly didn't expect it from the Malaysian restaurant below The Nosebag. Makan La was a pleasant surprise. Thanks to its size and humble decor you don't expect much, especially when you realise that the staff have taken to ignoring new arrivals when they're busy, presumably as a survival tactic. But once you've thrown punches to get an available table and grabbed a waiter by the ear to take your order you will be rewarded with delicious and traditional Malaysian grub.
