Far From the Madding Crowd
This sofa-sporting charmer is about as 'Oxford' as it gets; ales with
dirty names on sale, board games and classics hidden behind an old
upright piano. On Thursdays Inspector Morse rises from the grave to
take on Gyles Brandreth and Bertie Wooster in a borderline
incomprehensible pub quiz (we jest, Thursdays is, of course, 'Pizza
Night'). The pretty-OK food is surprisingly reasonable, although steer
clear of the lagers and stick to ale if you want any change left to
flick contemptuously at the patrons of The Gloucester Arms on the way
home. Oh, and there's a barman who wears A WAISTCOAT AND BOW TIE COMBO!
Itchy approves.
