Hillyfields The

Although recently refurbished, the Hillyfields is a slightly sorry bar sitting somewhat uncomfortably on a big road. Although there are various nights of cheap entertainment – discos and live bands on Saturdays; karaoke Thursdays –, it really serves as an uncharismatic watering hole for the residents of Harborne who can't be bothered to make a bigger night of it. The Hillyfields sells itself as a 'sports bar' and boasts several football, dominoes and darts teams, as well as screening live sport on a couple of elevated TVs. It fails to deliver on pub sports though, having nothing except a single dartboard, which tends to be dominated by the regulars. Good food is served every day until seven and the atmosphere is reasonably jovial, but ultimately the Hillyfields struggles feebly to make up for its poor location and, as such, doesn't come recommended.
