The Bull

If this place were a knock-kneed schoolboy in a history lesson, it would get a big fat gold star - it's been serving real ale since way back in 1729 and has its very own historical plaque. They do sell stout as well, so watch out for the usual cluster of old geezers with extravagant beards drinking half pints and making approving slurping noises. A gem of an old man's pub with none of your new-fangled wi-fi connections and sex toy vending machines, thank you very much. Probably best avoid the beer garden though, unless you like to sip your drink to the thunder of cars hurtling down the A38.
