Shared Earth

The Birmingham branch of this fair trade company is full of hand–carved ethnic–y goods that you can easily pass off as presents for your more environmentally–friendly mates. Goes without saying of course that you could buy most of it for half the price somewhere else, but knowing your new wall hanging was woven by a fairly–paid African child is bound to make it much nicer to look at, as well as being easy on the conscience. With lots of products made from recycled goods, you would be factually correct in saying Shared Earth is full of rubbish. But that wouldn't be very ethical now, would it?
