Jug of Ale
If Michelin stars were awarded to pubs, the Jug (its contents were dropped from the Brummie patois years ago) would get three. A long-standing favourite with the Moseley crowd and always full to the brim with locals, young and not-so-young. No student nights here, this one is for students of that ancient seat of learning: the University of Life. Weeknights are themed Wednesdays' cheap pints and bands make it one of the best places for live music. You can even take your non-musicy mates and leave them in front of the widescreen footy. There we go, now everyone's happy.
