Shiatsu Bodyworks with Rosie Freeman
Itchy always thought shiatsu was a small yappy dog. Turns out shiatsu actually has the power to help soothe migraines, back pain, stiffness and fatigue. That's one well trained pooch.
If trying to remember the difference between feng shui and egg fu yung has given you a headache, then maybe it's shiatsu you should be thinking about instead. A holistic therapy with roots in Japanese body work and traditional Chinese medicine, it can be used to treat physical ailments including menstrual and digestive problems, migraines, joint pain, fatigue, stiffness, and repetitive strain injury. It might sound hippier than Elvis' pelvis, but give it a try; Itchy has mates that gave it a whirl to help with I.B.S. and a long-standing (well, mostly lying down, in agony) back strain, and both gave rave reviews. At the very least it will take the tension out of your muscles and help ease your stresses, which can often be half the problem.
Rosie Freeman has a diploma in shiatsu, and conducts one to one sessions in a peaceful spot overlooking the park. Treatments are exceedingly relaxing, and take place whilst lying or sitting on a futon - fully clothed, so there's no risk of your blood pressure rising because you're worried about airing your man boobs. Expect gentle stretching, holding and massage, together with the application of pressure to key energy centres to leave you feeling looser, more supple, and generally rebalanced.
The still, calm nature of shiatsu and the safe, reassuring atmosphere prompts many people to explore deeper emotional issues that may even be triggering physical tenseness or pain. Rosie's background as a support worker makes her a qualified shoulder to cry on if you feel the need to have a cathartic cry while she's caressing your collarbone. Check out her website for special offers, and give shiatsu a try - yes, it might sound like a little dog, but no puppy performs this well when you command it to 'heal'.
