The Grove

It's been around since the 60s and remains steadfast, the little brick building sticking two fingers up at all the shiny skyscrapers springing up around it, like a David to a big gang of city centre Goliaths. Inside, the music remains similarly impervious to modern influences, although the longstanding folk club has now been supplemented by jazz, blues and spoken word evenings. All are ideal for times when you fancy having your aural receptors stroked rather than tweaked. The Grove is undeservedly off the radar of the majority of Leeds' bright young things... but then, there's nowt so queer as folk.
