Thackray Medical Museum

The Thackray Medical Museum feels a bit like a PR exercise for the local NHS Trust. 'You think you've got it bad now? Well, back in t'day...' Exhibits include 'Hannah's Ordeal' (depicting a doctor's sawing and no anaesthetic) and 'Pain, Pus and Blood' (which involves, well – guess). They also have a recreation of a Victorian slum, utilising innovative 'smell technology' – an inspired application of science if ever there was one, that really brings a tear to the eye. Literally. All in all, the museum is entertaining, if not for the squeamish. It's all fun and games until someone loses a leg...
