Blenheim Palace

Blenheim Palace is a big, fantastic house, set in acres of landscaped grounds and home to the 11th Duke of Marlborough. The house is filled with all kinds of impressive historical artifacts and there's not an ounce of Ikea in sight. The palace was given by the governnment to the first Duke of Marlbourough as a gift for winning the Battle of Blenheim in 1704. Winston Churchill was born here too - in a room by the front door. His mum was caught short while hunting. - If you want to gush about how fab Britain is then hijack a coachload of American tourists and bring them here. Click here to buy itchyOxford, the UK's best-selling guide to what's on in Oxford, including hotels, restaurants, clubs, bars, and shopping.
