Beat Cafe, The
When we were 14, a 'cocktail' consisted of whatever old crap your parents had hanging around in their drinks cabinet mixed together, to form some kind of toxic stupid juice. Of course back then, it was the liquor of the kings to us, but now, thanks to places like The Beat and its 70 plus strong cocktail menu, we know much better. Firmly setting itself aside from the usual Jericho cocktail bars, the drinks are sometimes excellent, sometimes a little rushed but definitely more exciting than a boring old vodka and coke. You won't find any chrome in here in the Beat cafe, but rather a funky Oxford bar with endless character, a vibrant atmosphere and a late-running happy hour, all you could need to wile away a few hours.
