The MOMA – Museum of Modern Art – café, is located in the basement of the building, and is as worth a visit as the museum. The walls serve as much–needed additional gallery space for contemporary paintings, but the café's decor – tables and chairs which can only be described as urmm, institutional post–modern – leaves a little to be desired. However, the food is actually pretty spot–on, vegetarian and bistro–style food – soups, salads, and the like – as well as your regular coffeehouse fare – cakes, biscuits, coffees and soft drinks – meaning some of the best fast food in Oxford.
