Grrrr. The Bear might just be the oldest and smallest pub in Oxford; it almost certainly has the most 'endearing' quirk – a collection of ties – which in any other city would raise it well above average. Unfortunately every other pub in Oxford has similar claims, so nul points there. Still the beer is good, the Pimm's is cheap and the courtyard outside is an excellent spot for people watching/perving over the totty in late summer. Worth it if you're nearby, but don't make it a priority on your beer itinerary.
