Chutney's Brasserie, Oxford

Chutney's looks and feels like a noisy cafe day and night, but is a fine choice for large groups in search of a cheap night out. The food is southern Indian, and as a result has tons of vegetarian choices. You'll find it slightly wimpy on the spice front, but the Bhindi Bhaji is excellent, as are the free poppadoms and chutneys you get when you first sit down. Not a place for a romantic dinner, but not a down–ten–pints–and–chuck–a–Madras–down–your–neck–pissed–up–Rugby–lad nightmare either.
