Fishers, Oxford

Never judge a book by its cover and never judge a restaurant by its porthole windows and tacky, nautical themed interior. Fishers looks tacky but is truly excellent, the steamed mussels are famed for being the finest in Oxford. Also on offer is just about everything from your humble fish and chips to swordfish and sea bass, and they kindly even have duck on the menu, presumably to cater for those who hadn't worked out it's a fish restaurant. Much recommended, though the live goldfish in a bowl is a tiny off–putting.

User Reviews for Fishers

I've been here a few times as a struggling student and as such never ventured far beyond the set menu lunch. However, I've never needed to. The 5.00 option looks fine but I always splashed out on the 8.50, for which you get starters like smoked salmon salad or beautiful fried calamari and equally lovely mains like swordfish and mackerel. While the portions aren't huge for the standard of food you're getting it's still a great deal. If you're still hungry I'd suggest going for an extra bowl of some of the finest chips I've ever tasted. Best of all you can get both the 5 and 8.50 lunches every day except Sunday. I can't recommend this place enough!
